When the pandemic reached the United States and people across the nation were staying safe at home, we were thinking of people for whom it’s impossible to be “safe at home,” specifically, people who are homeless, who experience domestic violence, and who contend with healthcare insecurity. How could we support these populations while staying “safe at home” ourselves? Enter Margaret Holzmann’s Safe at Home blanket pattern, and the Safe at Home blanket charity knit was born!
This spring, we worked together as a community of knitters to make squares for this blanket. Squares came in from both locals and people all over the country! We crocheted the squares together and debuted the finished blanket on July 10 during the Driftless Loop Yarn Shop Hop.
Who Will Benefit?
Great Rivers United Way will receive 100% of raffle ticket sales.
