Windbreak Hat Class

Learn to knit this cute, cabled hat just in time for the Wisconsin winter! This hat is made out of worsted weight, which makes it cozy to wear and knit up fast for gifts. Learn to make cables and to do the magic-loop technique in the same class, plus support a local designer! The Windbreak Hat pattern is by Jaala Spiro of Knit Circus in Madison.
You will Learn
Magic Loop - knit in the round using a long circular needle. This is a useful technique for hats because you'll never have to switch to DPNs! Magic Loop can also be used for socks, mittens, or any other small-circumference item.
How to knit cables - try out several kinds of cable needles during the class to get a feel for the options
(Please be comfortable with these techniques before class)
long-tail cast on, or another stretchy cast on
basic knitting in the round
Either one skein of 100g of worsted weight OR 2 skeins of 50g of worsted weight. Solid, tonal, or speckled skeins work best; avoid heavy variegation.
US 6, 16" circular needle for the brim
US 7, 40" or longer circular needle for the body and crown
